Went to brick lane for lunch last week. Picked a bad place. It kept its mango chutney on the floor in the restaurant in what looked like an old plastic paint bucket with no lid ! Can't remember the name of the place, something like 'Shampaa' I think. Place was empty and it took ages to get our food. And they forgot the rice...

not sure about the ettiquete and whether it is politically sensible to contradict the moderator of a tribe, but what the hell? i disagree! and whilst brick lane is one of my own personal holy places, it is not mecca. that title belongs to the lahore kebab house (on umburton st, not to be confused with the many imitations). their house special spicy lamb chops are worth walking over hot coals for! and everything else on their very limited menu (only about 15 things) is excellent and cheap. its pakistani i think.
